I recommend once a week to brush through your Doodles coat to help keep them clean and remove dead hair if your doodle is kept in a short/medium length coat. If you keep them in a full coat they require daily brushing. Brushing is also a bonding process for the dog and their human. Trimming isn't necessary unless hair grows down over the eyes, in this case it should be trimmed to above eye level so the Doodle can see properly. Being a drop eared dog, ears should be cleaned once a week with an ear wash bought at your vets office. Nails should barley touch the floor if at all and be trimmed as necessary to keep them short. This is usually done if you take your dog to the groomers. I recommend a bath or visit to the groomers every 4 6 weeks depending on your family's lifestyle. We specifically breed and socialize our Goldendoodles with young children in mind. Our passion is raising puppies that do especially well in homes with young children. There is something so special about those memories created of growing up with your dog and the unconditional love they give.
This is the quality many breeders want when they combine breeds with the Poodle, however, just because there is Poodle blood in the mix, it does not mean there is a guarantee that the offspring will not shed at all. Again, this depends on the gene pool and how dominate each side of the genes are, whether the pups inherit more of the Poodle’s side or the Retriever’s. Regardless, at the very least, a pup may grow into a dog that sheds a little, which is still a big difference from the full breed Golden Retriever, which are known to be big shedders. The English Goldendoodle has grown in popularity over the last couple of years. This beautiful cross between an English Golden Retriever and a Poodle has been popularized due to its numerous positive traits. They are overly friendly, intelligent, and have a very accepting nature. They can also be extremely effective as a service or therapy dog. Generally, the English Goldendoodle is a brilliant family companion. They enjoy human company and can be highly obedient with the right training. However, owners are generally advised to avoid harsh corrections, as this could ruin their confidence. With their rapidly rising population, it pays to have some general knowledge about the pet.
